National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran visits Yamanashi Prefecture for inspection of sports facilities

The President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Kiomars Hashemi, along with representatives, visited Yamanashi Prefecture on the 20th and 21st of February 2017 to investigate the possibility of Pre-Games Training Camps in the prefecture for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Along with a meeting with Prefectural Governor Hitoshi Goto, the President and his group were shown around the prefecture’s sports and accommodation facilities by the Yamanashi Sports Camp Support Desk, and attended a presentation on Pre-Games Training Camps.

President Hashemi expressed his thoughts on the facilities, saying that the size and capacity were definitely large enough for Pre-Games Training Camps, and that bringing athletes to train in Yamanashi would likely lead to good results in the Games. He also gave his assessment of accommodation facilities, saying it was impressive that there were places which could take into account the needs of Muslim guests without issue.

Along with this, he stated that once he returnsto Iran, he will quickly meet with the relevant sports associations and share the information he learnt with them before optimistically reviewing the possibility of Pre-Games Training Camps in Yamanashi.

Yamanashi Sports Camp Support desk will continue in its discussions with the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
